The first conference Palliative and Hospice Care: Medicine, Humanitarianism and Volunteering was held on 9 June 2015 in JU Auditorium Maximum at ul. Krupnicza 33

The conference was held under the honorary auspices of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The sessions and discussions were devoted to various aspects of palliative medicine.

The subject of the conference was presented from the medical, psychological, and legal perspective. The conference provided an opportunity to discuss and reflect upon the current state of knowledge about palliative care among physicians, patients and their families, as well as the general public. The main topics discussed at the sessions included problems and needs of the terminally ill and the role of volunteers in helping them.

The conference was also an invitation to all people of good will who are able and willing to become hospice volunteers.
